Oktoberfest and County Fair

This weekend we attended "Oktoberfest" because my brother, Read, was manning the State Farm booth. We had such a great time eating lots and lots of food and hanging out with family. It was so fun to see Sara and Jason, who came in from Waco.

On Monday night, My family and I attended a "County Fair" at my grandmother's Alzeimers facility where she lives. My grandmother and I had a very close relationship and it is so very hard to know she doesn't know me or my daughter. However, we always have fun seeing her and usually have lots of "stories" from our visits. My grandmother always dotes on my baby "boy" (she doesn't ever grasp that Ryann is a girl, even though I dress her girly every time) and tells me she loves me, which is priceless to me, even if she tells everyone she loves them.

Your grandmother gave my sister a stuffed animal duck when Ashley was in 5th grade and had to have pretty serious head surgery. was Ashley's Sunday school teacher and she prayed so hard for Ashley's recovery. Ashley still cherishes the duck, named Easter, because it reminds her of Mrs. Lloyd's kindness and her prayers. Ash carried it to college and it still sits on her dresser in her home. Such a small gesture but such an enduring legacy of your grandmother's great love for others which she passed on to your mom and to you... and it will be passed on to Ryann too.

I just love your grandmother...she taught me in Sunday School in 5th grade and was just so sweet to me. When I was at home this past weekend, she came up in a conversation I had with my mom and how much she cared and impacted my life even at that age....so much so that I still think about her today. I can't imagine how hard it is for her not knowing you or your sweet girl. Praying for all of y'all. Thanks for sharing the pics with all of us. And I agree with Jill about the amazing legacy that you come from and how you will continue it on in your family!
